Workplace Conflict
Online and Face-To-Face Mediation
Are you struggling to find the best way to resolve workplace conflict between staff, or you don’t have the time? Are emotions running high, and the conflict is affecting them, others, and your business badly? You want your staff to be productive and happpy, but they are stressed, distracted and unproductive because the dispute is getting deeper.
I can help your staff move beyond their differences and prevent external complaints and legal action through mediation.
What type of workplace disputes suit mediation?
bullying allegations
discrimination allegations
harassment allegations
conflict involving senior staff
return to work conditions after long-term leave
terms and conditions of employment
How mediation can help
Your staff need a guide to help them find solutions to their conflict at work, so that they can move forward and your business can get back to normal. I’m experienced at helping people in conflict through mediation. Mediation is a confidential process that helps people see their problems from different angles and think creatively about solutions.
Why not mediate workplace conflict in-house?
You can do this, but it’s tricky to be completely independent of the culture of a workplace. And sometimes, people don’t trust the motives of senior managers, even when the managers are genuinely trying to do the right thing. This may lead to accusations and perceptions of bias or favouritism.
Plus, it takes specific skills and strategies to help people in conflict to see it from another perspective, consider what to do to avoid a similar situation in future, and to get an outcome that meets the needs and expectations of both parties. If you’re not specifically trained and experienced in conflict resolution, it’s harder to get right.
Why choose me?
I’m a nationally accredited NMAS mediator with extensive experience in resolving conflict while working at the NSW Ombudsman, Child Support Agency, and the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board.
From the beginning of the mediation process, I help your staff get the right mindset for resolving their conflict. And I’m skilled and experienced in asking the right questions to help parties move beyond entrenched positions.

The mediation process
- PREPARATION
Inital conversation and document review
First, we’ll talk about whether the dispute is suitable for mediation. If we go ahead, I’ll review any documents that you have relating to the dispute. For example, one of the people in dispute might have lodged a formal complaint.
Separate interviews with each person
Your staff in conflict will be interviewed separately by me, to find out:
- how they feel about what happened, and
- how they think the conflict can be resolved
Importantly, the discussions are conflict coaching sessions, to help each party reflect on the dispute, and get in right mindset to resolve the problem.
2. MEDIATION
Talking, listening & problem solving
This is a confidential discussion between the people in dispute, facilitated by me. The purpose is for each person to feel heard and understood, and to think of ideas to resolve the conflict.
Agreement
During the mediation, I’ll document the agreement the parties come to, for them both to sign.
While I can’t guarantee that the conflict will resolve, (because that’s up to the parties), it’s more likely to happen because:
- the parties have been thoroughly prepared for the mediation through conflict management coaching, and
- I’m a skilled, accredited mediator guiding the discussion and helping them listen and be heard
3. FOLLOW UP
To see how it’s going, I’ll check with you and the other parties in:
- 1 month
- 3 months, and
- 6 months
Cost
Mediation costs $2,499 (inc. GST), including:
- the initial conversation
- document review
- conflict coaching and pre-mediation sessions
- facilitated discussion, and
- follow up
This is a lot less than it would cost if an external complaint was made.
